Amsterdam Bikes

Wet and cold but the bikes, of all shapes ands sizes, are everywhere here. In fact, more of them than people and some with enough rust to justify that statement. But this city is pretty special, despite the occasional pile of rubbish and smelly canal, there is an energy and optimism in air. Something I had quite forgotten though - living in NZ - residents spend much of their time going up and downstairs in their narrow houses - and they dont even notice it. Carrying a buggy, small child and two Dachshunds down to the front door seems to be a day in the life here. Great food here everywhere and, of course, even the man in the street speaks 4 languages!
