Lunch

I was contacted the other week by a former colleague and friend to say that another colleague who had moved south was to be back in Edinburgh for a conference. Lunch was arranged for the Grand Cafe in the Scotsman Hotel, the former building of the Scotsman newspaper.

It was great to catch up and we settled back in despite, in my case, not meeting up in person for nearly a decade. Facebook has kept us linked however.

The cafe area is rather grand - see extra. Lunch was convivial and lasted a few hours as the clock on the Balmoral testifies.

Some of us had last met up on 6 February for the funeral of another colleague. It was a sad turn of events that meant that I today learned of the death of another former colleague and friend who had succumbed after a serious battle with pneumonia.
