Candlestick

I went on a couple of local walks today and shot a number of completely different subjects,  I was really not sure which to blip. In the end I chose The Candlestick on account of the grass cutting artwork of the National Trust staff who cut it, I think that deserves some promotion.
The Candlestick was a ventilation shaft for Wellington Pit, (actually it still is connected to the old mine seams and prevents methane build up). Built in the 1840s and designed by Sydney Smirke, the fashion at the time was a castle style, there are other mining buildings in Whitehaven exhibiting similar features.
