Sisters

My 102 year old aunt Joan died recently and her memorial service was held on Monday. She was my mum’s eldest sister (mum was the youngest) so her loss is enormous. During the service a slideshow ran on screen and this is my favourite photo, which I’ve never seen before.
On the left is my mum, looking impossibly stylish; in the centre my naughty aunty Ivy (she was quite a gal), and on the right is Joan, the strict one of the three. I suddenly remembered this morning that I have actually seen my mum’s hat and I can remember the fabric and feel of it. The occasion was obviously a wedding, maybe one of my cousins. I hope my mum can remember it!

Note: of course she remembered. It was a cousin’s wedding in about 1986.
