Connect

When I woke up and saw the outside temperature was under ten degrees, I put on a hoodie under my coat when I left. Five minutes later, standing on the platform at Raynes Park station in the morning sunshine, I immediately regretted my decision.

It was bright and warm all day. Outside at White City Place, deckchairs had been placed all around and I am sure there were some new picnic tables. There was a large Connect Four-style game - to complement the large chess set - but I didn't see where the counters were stored. One week, I will come out and play at lunchtime. Right now, the canteen is too enticing.
My journey was uneventful, and although I dozed in the heat on the tube, I didn't feel any significant aftereffects of last night's indulgences. I had breakfast in the canteen with Gerry - where we discussed career planning and how we both felt, at our age, it seems somewhat insensitive to be forced to do that.

And then, I had back-to-back meetings for most of the day. This is the first in-office day where that has been the case. I suspect it helped keep my tiredness away. The canteen lunch was lovely pasta, but by 5pm, the combination of a carb-heavy lunch and a big boozy dinner last night made me feel sleepy, so I skipped the work karaoke session. That was probably for the best.

We finished the day with Eurovision's second semi-final of the year. Commentators Rylan (on-screen credit had no surname) and Scott Mills said this was a better heat as the songs were stronger. Both PY and I disagreed as we thought many of the songs in the first half were weak. Of course, none of our opinions mattered as we didn't vote.
