Marjorie's ramblings

Guest conductor

Sinéad Livingston came to conduct our choir, the North Tyne Voices, this afternoon. She hails from County Durham and leads 5 choirs in that area.

We had a lot of fun with her. She had us walking around the room and mingling with other singers as we sang.

I started my day with a long phone call with a very old friend - a big catch up and the opportunity for her to pick my brains.

Then to Hexham for a quick food shop.

After choir, I drove to Newcastle where Julie gave me an early evening meal. We went to Northern Stage to see the play "The Underdog" which is about the Bronte sisters.  Illness amongst the technical staff meant that the play could not go ahead except as a "reading".

In fact the actors sat on chairs and spoke their lines. They did it very well considering they had not rehearsed this.

We liked the play. It's funny and pointed and interesting. We both agree that the bad language as not necessary. Neither of us is offended by it, but it was unnecessary and buys cheap laughs.

Off my soapbox now.

Julie and I had a chat over a glass of wine back at hers and then I drove home.
