Cassone

Today we walked about 2 miles south along the lake to the tiny village of Cassone.

Apart from its picturesque harbour here, it’s main claim to fame is that it hosts the shortest river in Italy: the River Aril rises from the springs just below the restaurant where we stopped for a drink  (see extras) and rushes all of 170 yards into the lake by the harbour.

Also in extras, looking back towards Malcesine, is a sculpture of a woman who appears to be stepping off the bathroom scales.

We picked up a picnic lunch on the way back and spent most of the afternoon reading by the lake.
