There's Glittering Afoot

Today it was a return back to our tour of Kent churchyards. We only went for a quick drink today and on the way back we stopped off at the Holy Trinity church at Larkfield. We must have passed it hundreds of times over the years on the nearby busy road without giving it a second thought most of the time but I have occasionally been intrigued by its imposing presence sitting at atop a steep hill only accessible by a fairly vertiginous drive or a set of challenging looking steps.
Once we had parked the car and climbed our way to the top of the drive we were met by another wonderfully characterful churchyard surrounded by mature trees that made it feel a million miles away from its suburban environment - with the constant passing traffic dulled to a low, almost comforting, thrum.
I always like to look for something quirky to get an image of when we're on our churchyard tour - which usually means I miss getting a shot of the church or churchyard entirely and today proved to be no exception. A few days ago it was a lost unicorn and today it's the glittery soles of a pair of boots from a discarded Santa figurine, with accompanying miniature Christmas tree, which sparkled in a shady spot next to the church's compost bins!
I thought I'd spare you the sight of the full Santa, as nobody wants to see that in the first week of June, and instead went for this slightly random composition of his feet sticking up in the air with a section of the little yuletide tree purely on the basis that it made me smile! :-)
