Simpsons Gap

An early start to drive 24km west to Simpsons Gap where we met our Western Arrernte cultural guide for an informative walk to the Gap, then back along the creek bed. Rock wallabies were spotted above, their tracks to and from the waterhole on the sands below. Then a long drive south, stopping at a couple of roadhouses and a camel farm before we reached our night’s accomodation at Watarrka (Kings Canyon).

After sunset we wandered around Light Towers, an audio-visual installation in the desert by British artist Bruce Munro. The red dirt and night sky would have done it for me.
