Back

Another very slow start to the day (Wordle in 4 rather than the 3 of the last few days), then had some tea and toast before I nipped up to the shop for the last few things we needed for lunch. Back to some browsing in preparation for our Cornwall trip next week whilst K did some ironing, but then I was getting a sore neck so we decided we should make the most of the sunshine and go out for a quick walk. We just did a loop round by Wavendon Tower, the cricket pitch and some back paths and in the sun it was quite warm, but there were some threatening clouds on the horizon.
Once back at K’s we started getting lunch ready and T arrived. We chatted about TVs and dishwashers, gardening, work and training programmes, and had a wander round the garden to see what K’s been growing and admire her pots of summer flowers (or at least the ones that have avoided the slugs!).
A&T back from their usual Sunday bike ride, having both had a puncture and there was lots of chat in the kitchen. We were just about to start lunch when K’s phone went ….her mum saying N has taken ill and she was waiting for the ambulance. K had to just drop everything and drive over to help/see what was happening. We demolished the lunch (very tasty spatchcocked roast chicken in tarragon and garlic cream sauce) then I set off back north.
I’d downloaded the next Ruth Galloway mystery and got straight stuck into it, and it was a very straightforward drive, with sunshine till about Newcastle before the clouds and rain started. Home by 8.30pm and had some tea and a snack and checked up on K. Seems N is improving a bit but in hospital and she’s staying with her Mum…they don’t yet know what will happen next.
I have a busy week ahead….need an earlyish night
