A Return To The Quarry

This morning I took Hollie for a walk in Stretton Westwood Quarry on Wenlock Edge. It was a fine sunny day and everything shone in the bright sunlight. The quarry is being returned to nature after being closed many years ago. A notable feature is the proliferation of Ox-Eye Daisies which are growing in masses all over the site. It is wonderful to see and I will pop in periodically to see what wildlife are here. Only had a brief glimpse of a dragon fly over one of the many pools, but no other excitement.

This evening I took advantage of the football hysteria to go out in the Jag for a run down to Longville (disused railway and station house, now a private home) and  ended up at a remote and beautiful place called Eaton Estate which is a fascinating settlement with a fabulous and ancient church. It was  very peaceful and beautiful.

And there was no traffic on the road, no doubt everyone was watching another gripping 1-0 win by mighty England.

Oh the joy...
