Stand in driver

After a very exciting last few hours of the race we finished packing up and headed for home.

It was all going well until we hit the autoroute at Rouen. At this point sensible Rob and I stayed more or less at the speed limit while Jamie and Luke zoomed off into the distance. Some time later we got a call from Jamie who said that Luke had been stopped by the police.

Then we got a call from Luke to say he’d been stopped and had his licence taken away. So we turned round and went to help.

Luke’s co pilot is Charlie his son who is 9 or 10 so he couldn’t drive so Alfie did it. He’s never driven anything as powerful or expensive but he was very sensible and did a great job.

More annoyingly, we got to the tunnel and have missed the last train, so are now waiting until 2am for the next one…
