Sunday morning

It was a glorious day. It's the annual farm open day in the Val de Dagne today -- it's been going for so long now that we've visited all the farms multiple times, and it's not so interesting for us any more. But I noted that the farm we normally buy our lamb from had a stand at a winery in Montlaur, which is not that far from us, so it seemed like a good idea for a trip out. I had a wander round Montlaur in the sunshine and then stopped off to buy some lamb for the freezer. I was quite early, so it wasn't busy. I was not foolish enough to try the wine. We did that last year -- it seemed good at the time, so we bought a few bottles and then later discovered to our horror, having taken one to some friends who had invited us for dinner, that it had not aged well and was undrinkable.

This is a quick blip through an open gate of a very classic maison de maître from the heyday of Languedoc wine. I had a quiet afternoon reading in the shade before an early evening zoom with my sisters and then a chat with S.
