SHELDUCK FAMILY

My camera gives me lovely surprises sometimes. I saw the two adult shelduck in the distance and put the camera into full zoom "birdwatching" mode and then spotted the brood of ducklings, about eight or nine in all. A little further on there were lots of orchids (extra). I still haven't unpacked my flower books but I think they were southern and northern marsh orchids. There were many like the extra, but also some that were as big but much darker purple. I must find those books.

I'd gone down smelly factory road after taking a car full of cardboard for recycling and fortunately it was one of the parts of the day when it wasn't bucketing down, although it has been ever since I arrived home.
