Lucca trees

Yesterday we travelled across to Lucca in Tuscany where we have an important engagement this evening.

We were last here in 2006 and promised to return. I think we may have decided this is our favourite of all the places we have visited in Italy.

The old town is surrounded by a wall. Not just one of your ordinary medieval walls. This one is wide enough at the top to host a substantial track used by walkers and cyclists. Occasionally through avenues of trees. Trees grown in all sorts of places in Lucca!

We promised ourselves that we would return and cycle around the wall and we achieved that today. The cycle was not at all arduous and the views of the town and surrounding area were glorious.

A lasting image will be the tiled roofs and the gardens. This shot seemed to capture that as well as the tower with the trees on top. Might try getting to the top of that while we are here.

Glad everyone back in the UK is having as good a spell of weather as we are and I appreciate I am behind in my blipping comments. I'll catch up soon. Meantime, I must get ready to meet Leonard.
