Annual Walking Day

The highlight of the year in our village. A tradition that goes back 160 years. Our Annual Walking Day. Organised by our Parish Church, originally as a treat for the children of the Church School, it now includes all churches, schools and organisations and is a huge community event. At lunch time we were concerned about the weather, but the rain stopped by 1.30pm and the event, as always, started at 2pm in a packed church with a short service. It then took about 20 minutes to get the procession lined up outside ready to walk down the main road through the village and back. The walk itself took just over an hour and lots of people were lining the paths in the centre. We stayed dry and all went smoothly.

It would have been my 11th Walking Day but we missed two for covid.
