Smoo Cave

A visit to Smoo Cave this morning - huge, and its water flows from a stream above ground out to the sea via an interesting waterfall and cavern; only a slight slowness in exposure to blur the water sufficiently.
Later, a visit to Balnakiel Church, now a ruin with a long history. In the church walls is the tomb of Domhnull MacMhurchaidh. He was notorious for at least 18 murders (reported to have thrown his victims into Smoo Cave). He is said to have bribed the local lord so that his body would be buried inside the church; the skull and crossbones motif is on his tomb!
Plenty of low cloud and rain today - it is Scotland!
