A swallowtail at last!

We went to Hickling Broad for another boat trip.  This was an open boat and there was a terrific downpour when everyone got soaked.  Luckily the sun came out later which dried everything out and made visibility better.

The boat went along narrow dykes (extra photo) and visited a hide and an observation tower.  We had good views of marsh harriers (extra).

As we walked back through the reserve we saw one swallowtail butterfly on brambles.  I was so pleased as we had been looking all week! It's only found in the Norfolk Broads as that's where it's main food plant Milk parsley grows.

Thank you very much for the recent comments, hearts and stars, I'll hopefully catch up later.
