More than just a shopping centre ...

... Princes Square, Buchanan Street, Glasgow
The original buildings date from 1841. Designed by John Baird I as a four storey merchant square for John Campbell, then Lord Provost of Glasgow. Knighted by Queen Victoria, he named the buildings after the Prince of Wales (Edward VII).
In 1987 the buildings were transformed into the present Art Nouveau themed shopping centre/meeting place/cafes/restaurants/cinema by Hugh Martin and Partners.
Peacock on the outside by Alan Dawson and metal foliage by Timorous Beasty/Kenny Mackay.
The buildings are Grade B listed.
