Mountains from the air

Shot out of the window as we flew past Kaikoura Peninsula on the way from Auckland to Christchurch. It's cold here, quite a contrast to temperatures around 100 deg F in California when we left.

Our jeep has now been put to bed until next year... it was hard leaving it to come home, as we've lived out of it for the past 3 months. It's handy to be able to leave some of our camping gear over there, now, though. Even so, our checked bags were right on 23 kg each.

Back home we've been tidying up a couple of trees that came down in a strong southerly storm a few weeks ago. Good to get it done before the rain! Now have all our mail to sort... the downside of 3 months away overseas.
