Chancel

This is a view of the chancel of the wonderful St. Conan's Kirk on the shore of Loch Awe in the highlands of Scotland.

To quote one of the signs inside the kirk,  the building "was designed and built by Walter Douglas-Campbell with construction starting in 1881 and continuing for the next three decades. The kirk is unique in having an example of almost every style of church architecture with some of the finest craftsmen commissioned to help decorate the interior. Highlights include the Norman doorway, the Gothic flying buttresses, a Celtic cross, the arts and crafts  carvings, the Saxon tower and even a stone circle ."

The setting beside the loch makes this kirk very special.
