Birling Gap

Looking towards the rock face known as the Seven Sisters. Much prettier than their London namesake!

Earlier in the day we visited Bateman’s, a National Trust property which was once the home of Rudyard Kipling.
It was a lovely house with interesting things to look at, not least the Jungle Book related books and pictures.
There was a copy of his handwritten story of The Jungle Book. Tiny writing and all very neat.
I didn’t know he was such a prolific writer and a great friend of Baden Powell which explains why the Cub leaders names are the names of jungle book characters. Well they were years ago, I don’t know if they still are.

Another pleasant day pottering around this pretty bit of East Sussex though it’s still chilly!
