Bigmouth Strikes Again
On This Day In History
1966: The Miranda Rights are established
Quote Of The Day
"Donkey, you have the right to remain silent! What you lack is the capacity!"
(Shrek 2 )
A great day at school began with the Sayonara Assembly led by the soon-to-graduate Year 6 pupils. This was great because for part of their show they performed skits of their favourite memories from years one to six. When it came to Year 4, they performed a skit of the time when, as a punishment for what I warned them at the start of the year was unacceptable behaviour, I set up the classroom in Victorian style and treated them like Mr. Gradgrind in Hard Times. They had to stand to speak. They had to address me as "Sir." I called them Boy 1, Boy 2, Girl 1, Girl 2 etc. I was a bastard! At one point I sent a child next door to be beaten with a stick. The next-door teacher told the child to return looking very sad and crushed. Funny thing is, although the class' behaviour did improve after that morning, the kids all loved it and wanted me to do it again! And now, my current class have asked for me to do the Victorian classroom with them as well. So, Monday morning, the bastard will return for one lesson!
By the way, the girl who played me in the skit was brilliant and got me down to a T. I thanked and congratulated her later and told her she could be a psychologist when she grows up because she observes and understands people so well. That’s not just because she is a wonderful actress, but because several times when she was in Year Four she noticed when things were off in her classmates’ behaviour or correctly intuited who was being truthful and who wasn’t. A precious gift indeed.
I love my job!
