Grand shoe finale

School ends tomorrow. A friend said it might only be a half day. I put ALL the shoes out, pens that have tools in them, African bead bracelets, and as much candy as would fit, plus a note wishing them a good summer. Of the five shoes they returned four and a note wishing me a good summer back. They kept one? Interesting. 

While at the conference a note flicked across my screen saying that Lynn Conway had died. I was so excited about her inclusion that it made it into the first newspaper article about the show. I was delighted to send her the article. 

Russia re-invaded Ukraine. Finland joined NATO. After seven decades of assiduous non-alignment, Finland joined NATO. Finland just had its first deployment to NATO, sending fighter jets to do air defenses. 

Ukraine's military said it hit three Russian surface-to-air missile systems in Russian-occupied Crimea overnight, its second strike on air defenses on the peninsula this week.
An anonymous EU official said the US plans to send another Patriot air defense system to Ukraine.
