Humbug on board!
A cold, showery and windy morning but we had booked up a wildlife boat trip so dressed in winter attire suitable for the weather.
As the boat pulled in there was a torrential rainstorm and great big hailstones fell. The interior of the boat was soaking wet so it was dried down with towel and mop by our guide.
Fortunately the rain stopped although there were grey skies which is not good for photographing wildlife!
We had a knowledgeable local guide who pointed out lots of birds. We saw and heard a booming bittern (at great distance), spoonbill in a tree (extra), hobby, marsh harriers, common tern and a pair of great crested grebe with a chick like a humbug on it's back. There's also an extra of a heron that had just dived into the water after a fish.
It was a most enjoyable trip despite the weather.
