Reed Bunting

As of recent days the gloomy start turned into a beautiful afternoon, we visited a wetland reserve near Holyhead, it was a beautiful area with birds flitting all around including warblers, skylarks and goldfinch, also grebe, golden eye, mallards and a family of duck, unidentified the female had a slightly upturned beak.  And of course jets above us,  yes, it was next to RAF Valley and the main railway line to Holyhead, although busy the train sound didn’t intrude.

The birds didn’t react to either the jets or trains, apart from one man and his dog we appeared to be the only people on the site, strangely enough the regular flights didn’t really bother us either.  The landscape was green and colourful with yellow iris, red campion, orchids, and cotton grass. I hope we return before leaving.
