The Pilrig Muddle

These two large cable winding wheels from around 1898 were discovered during the construction works taking the trams to Newhaven. A signpost describes their significance and tells how the two different tram systems in Leith and Edinburgh meant that passengers had to change trams at Pilrig (see extra).

The weather is in a bit of a muddle at the moment and you’re never quite sure what to expect in the morning. It was fairly nondescript and grey this morning, but it had brightened a bit at lunchtime when I was down Leith Walk. When I got home at night the sun was coming through at times and Enzo was sunbathing on the bench (second extra).
