Avocet family

My main blip is a view from the Eric Morecambe Hide at RSPB Leighton Moss Reserve.

It was not until I downloaded the shot that I discovered that in the bottom right (cropped from the blip ) there were two Avocets with two chicks. If you have a magnifying glass you may be able to see them in the extra.

Sadly there are very few chicks. Each year many of the eggs  are predated by the aggressive Black Headed Gulls and maybe by others too. There seems to be no easy answer to the problem.
