Tree Sparrows

Here's a couple of Tree Sparrow shots - the main shows the bird with a tasty morsel and the extra shows the bird hovering over nettles as it searches for prey.  Getting the main at eye level involved crawling towards it on the grass - but I do like the angle it gives the bird.

The Tree Sparrow is more a bird of the countryside than its urban relative the House Sparrow.  Unlike House Sparrows, the sexes are almost identical in appearance and can be recognised by that distinctive cheek patch.
