A river runs through it!  We had torrential rains here today and local weather guys says we had over 10 inches of rain in a couple of hours!  My friend Jill and I went out for pizza, not thinking anything of it, and it continued to rain heavily while we were at Solorzano's on Webber Street.  Jill is staying at one of the local hotels and it was a real adventure getting her back to the hotel because so many streets were blocked by police and fire trucks because the water was too deep for cars to pass through safely!!!  Delivered her safely back to her hotel and then across the big bridge to my house and thankfully I wasn't going to St. Armand's or Lido Key because the traffic was just stopped!  Our street was flooded as well, but I have an SUV and thankfully I was able to get through the flooded street and home.  This view is our driveway looking toward the street.  It took a couple hours for the water to recede but more rain is predicted overnight.  In all the years we have been in Sarasota (since 2001), I have never seen flooding like this!!!  I am so sorry for all those who were stuck in their cars on flooded streets and some even had to be rescued by the police in special vehicles.  :(
