Living my dream

Bunny!

Bean has had a fabulously active day, after quite a boring time yesterday spent largely in the car.

She has been bouncing and beaning all over the place today, including chasing a bunny under this pile of timber. She didn't give up when the rabbit disappeared.

Yesterday's big news is that Nicola the physio is my new hero.

After getting me to bend and stretch in various ways, and then some prodding and listening to my symptoms, she declared that the problem isn't PHT, but my back.

Had I had a fall in the last few months? Well yes, Bean bowled me off my feet a couple of months ago and I did what I thought was a marvellous relaxed rolling tumble on grass. Hmmm...

I saw the lightbulb go off in Nicola's head.

When I fell she thinks I whacked my pelvis slightly out of whack, and damaged L3 and L4 vertebrae (the left hand side of which are tender). This has made me a bit skew-wiff and the PHT has flared up as a result. It explains the peculiar backache and why gardening has actually helped.

Among other things she manipulated the vertebrae for 10 minutes or so, and it all felt much better immediately. I have daily exercises to promote symmetry and to strengthen my back and hamstring. She knows I'll be diligent and predicts I'll be fine in 10 days' time.

The rest of day was spent in a haze of relief.

I've been making sourdough today, and a recipe for Croquettes de Potimarron au Riccota from my fabulous French vegetables cookbook. Supper smells promising...
