The glasshouse at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens was built in 1852 specifically to grow the giant water lily. It’s been missing for a number of years but now grown from seed in the nursery. It germinated in early March but the Victoria Cruziana was planted on 23 February- this is it on 5 June! And it still has lots of growing to do !!!
