Purple Martins

We had a long, fairly grueling walk right along the riverbank this morning. A lot of scrambling (probably won't be doing so much of that anymore) in order to get around the railroad bridge footing. We were determined to get as close to the first support arch as we could, in order to get a good look at the osprey nest there. My pictures were no good, but the odd part of seeing the nest was that the fledglings seemed to have white heads, yet the parent bird that flew in was an osprey.
We occasionally run into The Eagle lady on our walks. She brings her dog on her walks and keeps track of the big birds she sees. At first, we were miffed that she insisted on bald eagle sightings we didn't agree with, but over time, we have become pretty fond of her. She told us about the osprey nest, but we couldn't find it on our own, though now we know right where it is.
Right after looking at the osprey nest, we watched a fisher catch quite a big fish. We cheered when he hauled it in and he cheered, too. Then I yelled for his number to send him the pics; he yelled it back, and I sent them. He texted thanks, but didn't take us up on my "what time is dinner" question. See Extra.
We continued walking along the river first over the concrete grids in the Extra, then along the UofP property where there are three of these Martin nest condos. Fun and exhausting.
