Mary Stanford lifeboat house, Rye

What an awful tragedy this was. On the 25th November 1928 a lifeboat was launched in a severe gale for a stricken vessel called Alice. All 17 of the crew were drowned. The crew of the Alice had already been rescued but the lifeboat hadn’t heard or seen the recall signal.
