Learning about how much God loves and cares for His people - for all people - is absolutely amazing Take the sabbath as an example;


"Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor, and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, you, or your son, or your daughter, your male servant, or your female servant, or your livestock, or the sojourner who is within your gates. For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.”
Exodus 20:8-11 ESV

Whilst this has been made into something religious, as demonstrated by the Pharisees when they saw Jesus healing on the sabbath (Luke 6:6-11), God was giving a very simple instruction which can be summarised in a few words - have a day off.

To make the day holy means to set it apart from your normal, busy, working days of the week and have a break. To rest is not just something sensible we do in order to avoid being burnt out; it is a command from God.

Be still, and know that I am God.
