Rust

Car was sounding a bit noisy this last few days that deep throaty sound you get from the hot hatches. No such luck for me though. This rusting lump of metal found by Mrs F on the drive suggested an expensive trip to the garage.

A little look under the back of the car showed that the middle pipe and the rear section of the exhaust were no longer connected. Checked a couple of garages and it looked like a £200 bill was on the cards.

The local garage suggested that I pop in for 5 minutes so they could see what parts they needed to order. To my pleasant surprise the exhaust was ok and it was only the bracket that held them together that was broken. Couple of taps with a hammer to clean the rust debris away, a little bit of sealant and a new clamp and all was fixed.

The final bill £5, that put a smile on my face.
