Dutchoak's (not so) Daily

Savannah

Today, passing the Scharreveld, it reminded me of the endless African savanne.

When I squeeze my eyes,
- I see acacia and baobab, not birch and oak
- I see wildebeest and zebra insted of sheep and highland cattle
- I see Hornbills and Ibis, instead of gulls and lapwings

This is all "new nature". What used to be fertile pasture has been reverted to a landcape creating by overgrazing sheep. As tread he heather I really wonder why we are doing this...
