We spent the morning at Grandma's, playing some games and going to the pump track.

After lunch was the main event, MrsCyclops and CyclopsJnr had come down to enter the Great North Swim, we were going to do a 250m open water swim in lake Windermere. MrsCyclops has done the mile on two previous years, but this would be CyclopsJnr's first time to enter. He was VERY excited.

But in the end we didn't do it, it was very windy and so the water felt extremely cold and there was a lot of waves which seemed huge and splashy to CyclopsJnr. We got as far as acclimatization (where they send you to walk through a shallow part of the lake, about half an hour before the swim) and after that CyclopsJnr didn't want to do it and MrsCyclops agreed. It definitely wouldn't have been fun, and CyclopsJnr wasn't experienced in conditions like that. He was really disappointed but it was completely his choice, and a sensible decision.

It wasn't a total loss as we did a great art activity down at the site, they had a big mural with a picture of the event on the wall drawn out in outline and a second version cut into squares. Each person could take a square and decorate it as they pleased within their part of the outline then they all got put up together. It was great we loved it. CyclopsJnr is pointing to his square.

And early evening MrsCyclops and CyclopsJnr and Grandma went out to a pizza place (well CyclopsJnr had a hot dog) and it was delicious.
