All about me
Today has been all about Thomas. It started with him competing in the Young Musician of the Year competition at 9am at school this morning - an awful hour for a brass player (as the instrument takes time to warm up). So there they were lined up on stage, a cellist, a trumpeter, a jazz piano player, a recorder player and a singer - in front of the whole school, all the staff and parents of the section winners (us). He played beautifully and was not expecting to win as everyone expected the cellist to win (a boy in the year above who has just won a music scholarship to his next school ) and the cellist did win. But Thomas got some very positive comments and he nailed his piece beautifully. He was very pleased to have his older brother in the audience (who is also a trumpet player) who was amazed at how talented his youngest brother has become.
Then chores and shopping and ironing ....and the best part of the day, a fight with the driving school who have given me one day's notice that they do not have a back up instructor to take Luke for his driving exam tomorrow as his current instructor's car has broken down. After some heated discussions whereby the driving school feel I should take it up with the instructor personally (it's not his fault his car has broken down) and I maintain that I contacted the driving school about lessons, not the individual...blah blah blah, too boring to tell you anymore. The long and the short of it is that I have to rush out to Halfords tomorrow morning to buy a second rear view mirror so that Luke's car is suitable for the test, and I will be taking him to the test - and for the record do not book lessons through Red Driving School - a national large organisation that do not deliver the service they promise.
