Concert Attire

Today was Bellingham Symphony Orchestra’s last concert of the season. We went with friends Stu and Judy. The concert was called “Symphonic Dances” and featured two pieces. The first was “Suite for Improvisor and Orchestra” by Kinan Azmeh. He was the improviser on clarinet. If you ever get a chance to hear this work, grab it. Azmeh is a Sirian composer who fuses his native music with Western classical music. And his improvised solo throughout the piece was amazing. We all loved it. The second half was Rachmaninoff’s “Symphonic Dances, Op. 45” and we loved that too. Rachmaninoff died March 1943 so we actually were sharing the planet a couple of months after I was born in January. The extra is the ceiling light in the Mount Baker Theater in Bellingham where the BSO performs.
