Eclipsed. Leitz Elmarit 90mm

I have ranted and raved here before about how essential it is for woodworking edge tools to be razor sharp in order to get the best results for one's work.
There are basically two kinds of honing guides: those that clamp cutters in the guide from above, like the venerable Record Honer #161, previously  Blipped here.  The second type, like the equally venerable Eclipse #36, clamps the blades from the side.  This makes it much easier to keep the cutting edge square.  Each system has its merits.
I bought my Eclipse #36 in South Africa back in the '70s.  There are now numerous knock-offs of this clever tool available, but the quality is not the same, or the cachet of the original from a famous English tool manufacturer.
