Ghost Cities

Fun fun fun at Surfers - checked out HOTA, a fairly new art space in a lovely park. Thronging with activity as it was lovely weather and Sunday there’s a popular market. The building itself is very interesting (see extras), and the view from the top is terrific. That’s the main, a failed pano that I couldn’t resist sharing!

Today’s title is inspired by Jason Phu’s installation everyone is dead (see extras), and the book I am currently reading (Siang Lu’s Ghost Cities, falling apart but almost completed) and their playful takes on Chinese meets Western culture.

The other exhibition we saw was also great - a film on the Gold Coast’s early days as a fashion centre, and associated photographs and costumes.

Followed by a walk gawking at the gaudy glitz that is Surfers, lunch by the beach and home to a mango beer (interesting spelling!) and a doco about the history of the Gold Coast (The Secret Lives of Cities, SBS). All in all, a great day!
