College Lake

Another Sunday trip to College Lake for a lovely walk and to check if the flowers in the meadow are out yet.

They aren't, but we were greeted by these lizards on the handrail by the path as we walked in to the entrance!

The second blip is of a tree in the middle of the nearer lake.

In one of the hides, another couple had seen a roe deer on one of the islands, that intrigued us, but we didn't catch site of it.  However, when we mentioned it to one of the volunteers, they told us that it would have been a Chinese Water Deer, that were introduced by the  Duke of Bedford in the 1870's.  Never knew that!  Apparently a couple of them have been swimming out to the islands for the last couple of months.  Lapwings don't like them though.
