Ripgut Brome

Bromus diandrus.

I thought I’d do a series on grasses growing on our hectares. Particularly as iPhotos now makes a pretty good show of automatically identifying them.

This grass seems to be nothing but a pain particularly as it’s long seed heads can do all by sorts of damage to animals and humans. Very sharp and with backward pointing barbs they can work themselves into all sorts of places. Very painful in the fingers and a constant bane when stuck in socks at ankle height.
