Wartime photos of my dad.

He was in the 8th Army. Like many of his generation he did not talk about the war. Many years later he passed up the opportunity of promotion at a Civil Service interview. When asked if he'd had "a good war", he made it quite clear that there was no such thing. They meant had he been promoted, but Dad objected to the adjective and said many people had died, and he had lost friends in warfare.
