The Bees Know

When the False Indigo blooms, blue or in this case yellow, the bees show up.  It is one of their favorite plants.  Between showers, I tried to photograph a good selection of humble bumbles.  Now you may say this is one bee in 5 views, but it is really 5 different bees.  If you observe bumblers long enough you notice they do have different markings, the width of the yellow bands or the size and shape of the black dot on their backs.  I especially like the bee in the bottom right with his leg sticking out.  It looks like he has a wee pair of black knickers on!

Speaking of black, I almost got a photo of a HUGE black bear last night!  He crossed the road in front of my house and made his way around to the Back Porch Cafe.  (Of course, the Cafe is closed at night.  I bring everything in.)  I grabbed my camera but at the last moment he was spooked and ran off before I could get the photo of him.  Darn!  He must have weighed 400-500 lbs.  A real beauty.  (Sounds like that old fisherman story of the one that got away!)
