National Cyclists Union - This Hill is Dangerous
I came upon something of interest today I have never seen before. It is a sign on the road near Macclesfield , which is called Church Road, at North Rode, which we rarely travel on. It cuts across to the M6, and the Congleton Road.
You can probably get 10,000 points for this in the I SPY book of the road.
The Bicycle Union merged with the Tricycle Association in 1882 and was renamed the National Cyclists Union in 1883.It campaigned for highway improvements. Significantly though, after a fatality, it erected warning and caution signs at steep hills and other danger spots, including this rare early one, which is just before a winding steep descent.
See below for detailed articles about the signs. Another blip and something new to look for. CAUTION - blipfoto can lead you anywhere.
Thanks to my brother in law for telling me about this.
Today we moved out of the house in Poynton, but I didn’t want to to focus on that.
