Russia supported South Africa’s ANC. South Africa’s ANC has been supporting Russia in its invasion of Ukraine. In the election the ANC did not win a majority government and will have to form a coalition. This may cost Russia a supporter. 

Ukraine attacked Russia’s ships in the Black Sea so Russia moved them to Novorossiysk base. In mid-May Ukraine used drones to attack them there. 


Ukraine has attacked an oil refinery in Novoshakhtinsk for the third time this year. The governor of the region said there were no casualties. Videos on social media show fire. At least 13 successful attacks have been carried out on Russian oil refineries since Russia re-invaded, five in the last month. The nongovernmental organization Global Witness said its investigation proves that these refineries have been supplying Russia's army. 

Biden and Macron gave speeches today comparing capitulating to Russia to capitulating to WWII Germany.
