Snapshots of my world

Freedom.

On the 80th Anniversary of D Day it seems only right to think how lucky we are to have such freedom, each and every day. So much of the progress that defined the 20th century, and beyond, on both sides of the Atlantic, came down to the battle on the tiny slither of beach.

The things those soldiers endured to give us the freedom we enjoy today is something we must always be humble and grateful for, what brave souls.

I listened back to Vernon Kay's special show from Normandy on Radio 2 as I marked some books after school. It was beautifully done and I urge anybody to listen if they can. He speaks to many of the surviving veterans. It's truly incredible. One amazing man said he doesn't mind talking to anybody, especially youngsters from school because it should never be forgotten. I'm happy to do my bit to make sure his wish is filtered into schools.

Livy and I made the most of our freedom in the breezy, chilly sunshine this evening. :-)
