Lest we forget

On the 80th anniversary of D Day our family remembers my father in law who landed near to Hermanville on June the 6th with the Signals in the second wave and then subsequently was involved in the fighting through France, Belgium and Germany. In total he spent 7 years in the army, was mentioned in dispatches and reached the rank of Major. A quiet reserved man he was never keen to talk about his wartime experiences. He was awarded the Legion D’Honneur and received this from the French consul a couple of years before his death.
